The recent elections are beginning to show the affect of major demographic shifts in the Untied States. The Latino voters of this country hold the key to victory which gives them major political power. This has prompted Immigration activist to expand on their demands. The United We Dream Network (name taken from the Dream Act) has started to lobby for a path to legal citizenship for more citizens that ever before. The Dream Act would allow for 1.7 million young immigrants to become legal, but now the United We Dream Network is trying to create a path for 11 million immigrants. The movement really started to pick up pace when Illegals were not getting funding to go to college.
Then when the Dream Act got shut down in the house many people started to organize. This will start to apply pressure to the President, but more so Republicans. Democrats, for the most part, are on the good side of Latino voters (evident by the 63% of votes they recived from the lation demographic) and Obama said it was part of his agenda for his second term. But the major power lies in a reformation for the republican party who are going to need to start catering to that Latino Vote, the best way to do this: Pass the Dream Act
