Thoughts on the VP Debate

The 2012 Vice Presidential Debate was held last Thursday night at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. The debate was between the incumbent VP Joe Biden (Democrat) and VP candidate Paul Ryan (Republican) and moderated by Martha Raddatz of ABC News. According to an AP source (, over 51 million people watched the debate live.  The debate topics were on both foreign and domestic policy.

Early polls show a slight advantage for Joe Biden, as he was undeniably more energetic/enthusiastic, but, it is still subjective on who won the debate. Republicans think Joe Biden’s comments and mannerisms were very unprofessional and tasteless while Democrats were energized by his enthusiasm and free expression. Personally, I believe both candidates achieved their objectives. Biden needed to rally/energize voters to make up for Obama’s poor showing at the first debate. Ryan needed to prove himself knowledgable of FP issues.
